I'll start with the chocolate. Drool. Rick Steve mentioned a shop that sold hedgehog shaped chocolates and I made it my mission to find them. It would be rude however to go into a shop and not buy anything so we sampled lots of chocolate along the way.
We finally found the hedgehogs in the last store we went into. Ironically they were my least favorite though because they were too alcoholey tasting. It's all about the journey though.
Beer. Yummy yummy yum. So much beer. We loved Bruges Zot the best but the trappistes beer made by monks took a close second.
FRITES! Belgium has things called friteries, which are places that specialize in french fries. I love friteries.
Frites also pair well with mussels, beer and adorable boyfriends.
Boyfriend Style:
You can't come to Belgium and not have Belgian Waffles. In fact I had them 4 times. Shoulda been 5.
Our B&B had them out anytime you wanted some. Poor Hildie. She didn't see me coming.
Speaking of B&B's... We loved B&B De Corenbloem. Centrally located, fantastic breakfast and beautifully decorated.
Imagine sitting in here with a crackling fire , classical music and a platter of Belgian waffles.
And that brings us to the photo ops.
Bruges is surrounded by canals which make for great photos.
Just some swans here hanging out, enjoying a gorgeous Halloween.
That's me contemplating which sauce to get on my next frites.
Bruges Style:
Eric trying (and failing) to pull himself away from the old curiosity shop.
