Today's exploration brought me to the 5th arrondissement. It is full of books, quirky shops and a famous landmark or two.
First stop was Shakespeare and Company Bookstore. I've been wanting to come here for years and it completely lived up to the hype! I could have stayed in here for hours. Or left with 20+ books. Sadly I left with nothing because I am constantly reminded by my frugal subconscious that I can get virtually every book for free through the DC public library app.
I might go back for a tote bag.
Next on to another bookshop called The Abby Bookshop. I was THIS close to walking away with Excel 2003 for Dummies and The Internet and Email for the Over 50s...damn you subconscious!
Next was on to a different kind of bookseller. They are called Bouquinistes and they have permanent fixtures set up along The Seine.
On my way to Jardin des Plantes I got a great shot of Notre Dame.
...and a couple taking wedding photos.
Jardin des Plantes was gorgeous and it happened to be a perfect sunny fall day for hanging out in a beautiful garden.
After so much reading and hanging out in gardens I had worked up quite an appetite so I stopped for a butter and sugar crepe. Only €1.60. Best decision all day.
Next I stumbled on the "quirky shops" part of the neighborhood. Including a taxidermy shop called Claude Nature...
And a scarf and hat shop called Aspasie & Mathieu that I WILL be going back to because it was adorable and I love hats and scarves....
Finally I ended my day at the pantheon. YAWN. I thought it was a yawn in Rome and I thought it was a yawn here too. Sorry pantheon lovers.
