Homeless People

Back in the 90s my mom used to give money to homeless people. Eventually we shamed her out of this behavior with "if you give a man a fish..." type stories. She compromised by demanding we at least give them the food contents of our happy meals (we were only in it for the teenie beanie babies). I'm pretty sure she still gives them food. Meanwhile her own child is living macaron to macaron. Yesterday I had zero macarons. ZERO!

The homeless situation in Paris is very different. For one, they look well fed and showered. And second, they are warmly given money and well wishes from Parisians. I'm convinced they don't even use it for drugs! I doubt I will give them any money (namely because I barely have any, not because I'm a jerk), but I may give them some American clothes to make room for French ones (I have a special account for french clothes called a credit card). They probably wouldn't even want them though as most of them have far better style than i do!

The stylish loafers of the man who just asked for money on the metro. Admittedly this was a good shoe day for me too.
